A dog’s point of view..

Too often I have seen people standing at their own eye level to take photos of their dogs. If they only knew that if they knelt down on the floor, or better still for the really small dogs, lay down on the ground, they would stand the chance of taking an instantly more interesting image.

This is because it helps us to get in to the dog’s world, their point of view. Also, notice when you see a picture of a dog (not always – this is a generalisation) they are surrounded by the green grass of a field. There’s not much contrast between the dog and the background, making them harder to see. If you get down to their level you stand a better chance of putting them against a background that has more contrast, thus enabling you to see the dog better, thus making a better photo!

Of course, I have seen lots of great dog photos taken above the dog and indeed I have done this myself. But in simple terms, you might want to try this technique and see what you get.
